More Protest Info

Published by Daniel Cody under Politics

Sorry for going all ‘Liberal Leftist’ the past few days, but here’s some information about the Anti-War Protest happening in Washington D.C. on the 18th of January…

Check out this picture of a full page ad that’s going to run in the New York Times next week which gives some info about the protest and what people can do to support it, even if they can’t be there themselves.

The last Anti-War Protest that took place in D.C. last October had about 100,000 protesters marching in the streets, and with all the War talk going on these days, I wouldn’t be suprised if that number was surpassed on the 18th.

Hopefully, the people who work in that city as our representatives will listen a bit closer this time.

Cheney Protest, Jan. 29 in Madison

Published by Daniel Cody under Politics

Vice Prez Cheney is scheduled to visit Madison WI on January 29, 2003, and Madison protesters are getting ready to greet him. More info available at the madpeace.org website, but depending how vacations and other activities pan out in late January, I might be heading to Madison to ‘welcome’ the VP back to Wisconsin!

Break Out the Sunblock!

Published by Daniel Cody under Personal

A week before Christmas in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and it’s 55 degrees outside. In another 50 years, scientists expect the Arctic North to be ice free during certain months of the year. How are my grandchildren going to buy the whole Santa deal when the North Pole is covered in slush instead of snow?

Will Santa have to reinvent himself to be believable in the world we’re leaving to them?? Will he be wearing bermuda trunks and a golf visor in place of his traditional Red Santa Suit and Black Santa Boots, using a Jet-ski instead of his Sleigh to deliver presents to children around the world on Christmas Eve? After all, once the ice caps melt, we’ll all be blessed with ocean-side property — especially here in Milwaukee where either coast will only be a few hours drive, just like Florida! — so maybe they won’t have such a hard time believing the Santa-in-a-Jet-Ski theory.

But global warming is just a myth according to our administration, so I have nothing to worry about… Yup, just another winter with above average temperatures, I’ll just have to start getting used to it.

Bush-appointed Judge Hands Cheney a Win on Energy Policy Disclosures

Published by Daniel Cody under Politics

In a blow to the concept of an open government run ‘By the People..’ here in America, a federal judge, recently appointed by Prez. Bush no less, rejected a suit against VP Cheney brought by the General Accounting Office. (the GAO is the investigative arm of Congress) The lawsuit asked him to turn over the names of people who helped him form the Prez’s Energy Policy almost two years ago, a group of names which is speculated to read like a Who’s Who list of top Oil, Coal, and Nuclear power executives.

In simpler terms: The American people have no longer have any right to know who the Executive Branch relies on when forming policy that affects us all.

“Vice President Cheney’s cover-up will apparently continue for the foreseeable future, unless a Republican Congress demands appropriate disclosure,” Sen. John Dingell of Mich. said. “I’m not holding my breath.”
