The levees in New Orleans hadn't even breeched when he made his comments to the Houston Chronicle.

FWIW, the 17th St. levee broke on Monday. Bush spoke in Coronado on Tuesday.

A large section of the vital 17th Street Canal levee, where it connects to the brand new "hurricane proof" Old Hammond Highway bridge, gave way late Monday morning in Bucktown after Katrina's fiercest winds were well north. - Times-Picayune

What facts am I ignoring exactly? The fact that he wasn't yucking it up with a country star when the flooding was really ramping up while telling everyone that "We've got a lot of work to do"?

Or the fact that he waited two days after the hurricane to return home?

Or the fact that FEMA administration are a bunch of political lackeys with no disaster management experience?

I mean seriously, what facts am I ignoring?

Yeah, you're right, Bush is a bad guy. Never mind the facts, it's easier to blame Bush. Next time he better use his super duper hurricane stopper or else ...

Coronado .. yes. Thanks :)

The handshake & cake session I'm talking about was last Monday, the day the disaster hit.

k - thx.

I assume you meant to say Coronado.

And instead of everyone trying to pinpoint the exact minute the levees broke (Which NO ONE could have anticipated according to the administration) as some kind of timeline defense of the President, how about you just acknowledge that the response was a day late and a dollar short.

Of course the V-J Commemoration Day wasn't a photo op, I never said it was. The time he spent after that event was a photo op though, so stop trying to confuse the issue. Unless mingling with country singers had something at all to do with V-J day?

The levees broke on Tuesday, and whether or not Bush knew about that when he said "We've got a lot of work to do" is really irrelevant. And honestly, the attempts to defend him by trying to zero in every comment with a time and a 'Well he might not have known something when he said X' is really getting old.

The handshake & cake session I'm talking about was last Monday, the day the disaster hit.

Of course, the administration defense we're hearing this weekend is it was a huge failure on the State level, which may be partly true, but not to the degree the administration is trying to shift blame off the federal response.

I just love how the response from the administration to this has been so well organized and coordinated. Almost like they're still in campaign mode. The fact is though that the President took two days before 'Getting back to work', and his lack of leadership on the response was mirrored by the rest of the Federal Gov. After all, if the leader of the Government doesn't make it a priority, why should any of his subordinates?

Here are the facts ... he went to the V-J Commemoration Day in Colorado on Tues the 30th - which is no photo op party or cake and handcake session. It's a ceremony to commemorate the victory over Japan and the end of World War II. Bush planned to leave Colorado, fly over the Hurricane damage on his way to Wash, DC to lead coordination of relief efforts. The levees in New Orleans hadn't even breeched when he made his comments to the Houston Chronicle.

Using this picture out of context is a nice attempt to villify the man, but pretty baseless. And yes, taking out of context needs to be talked about. Your use of this picture is comparable to Michael Moore's use of a video clip that had nothing to do with 9/11 to show that Bush mishandled 9/11.

Well maybe the President should hold off on showing appreciation photo ops when thousands of people are dying in his country. Maybe he should hold off on cake and handshake sessions in Arizona at 5 star resorts while hundreds of thousands of Americans are living in the streets with nothing to eat or drink.

But we have got a lot of work to do, and President Bush has been leading the charge as this picture clearly illustrates.

Seriously, how can someone make a statement like "We've got a lot of work to do" while he's kicking up his feet at posh resorts and mingling with b-list country music talent? Defend him all you want and talk about context, but the US Government has seriously f-ed the response up.

Now watch this drive!

OMG. You come back with another piece of video taken out of context. The irony is amazing. LMAO. You do know that the GWB golf snapshot wasn't about the terrorist of 9/11, right? Please please tell me you know/knew that!

Funny how things can be taken out of context. Where was Bush when he was "playing" this guitar? I'll save everybody the time:

President Bush plays a guitar presented to him by Country Singer Mark Wills, right, backstage following his visit to Naval Base Coronado, Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005. Bush visited the base to deliver remarks on V-J Commemoration Day.
