California Republican Congressional Candidate Lies to Prove “Media Lies”
One from alternate universe land here.. Howard Kaloogian is a Republican running for Congress in San Diego, California.
He is so hell bent on showing how well things are going in Iraq (compared to the ‘liberal media’ who’s sole mission is to only show the ‘bad news’) that he put pictures up on his website from a recent trip to Baghdad in order to “prove” that things in Iraq are going better than the media really wants us to know!
He wrote this about the picture:
“We took this photo of dowtown Baghdad while we were in Iraq. Iraq (including Baghdad) is much more calm and stable than what many people believe it to be. But, each day the news media finds any violence occurring in the country and screams and shouts about it - in part because many journalists are opposed to the U.S. effort to fight terrorism.” - Howard Kaloogian
One small problem though, the picture wasn’t really of Baghdad. Turns out some ‘moonbats’ from DailyKos.com did some research and showed that the picture is really one of a suburban in Istanbul Turkey:
It’s ironic that this Republican candidate is trying to prove the media is misrepresenting how well things in Iraq are going by misrepresentating how well things are going in Iraq. It also speaks volumes about the real agenda of people like Howard Kaloogian.
I have contacted Howard Kaloogian’s headquarters and the mistake was made by their webmaster. The trip went through Turkey (they had a layover), so this was one of the pics they took. Anyway, they sent thousands of pix to their webmaster and told him to choose one - this is the one the webmaster picked.
They have requested the image be changed by the webmaster, who has not gotten back to them yet.
That’s the official response … take it for what it’s worth.
That seems to conflict with what these people found. Doesn’t seem that anyone is getting a straight answer.
Personally I think this guy is full of it. His explanations make no sense. He got caught - he should just admit it.
Why is it so hard for politicians to be honest?!?!
Because it’s their paycheck at stake.
