Cheney Protest, Jan. 29 in Madison
Vice Prez Cheney is scheduled to visit Madison WI on January 29, 2003, and Madison protesters are getting ready to greet him. More info available at the madpeace.org website, but depending how vacations and other activities pan out in late January, I might be heading to Madison to ‘welcome’ the VP back to Wisconsin!
I’ve been flirting with attending the Jan 18th rally in D.C. It would be a no-brainer if it wasn’t being run by InternationalANSWER. I’m not really a fan of the Workers World Party and I’m not particularly looking to disarm the US government — just to keep their rocket in their pants.
I wouldn’t mind traveling to Madison. I’ll look at the site and see what the deal is.
By the way, why is he going to Madison? What big businesses are there?
Cheney’s emerging from his bunker. And there isn’t even an election campaign going on.
I’ll go with you! Bring Jen, stay here, it’ll be a party.
No idea. Motorola used to be here but now they’re HQ is in Chicago. They still have a big office, though. American Family is here. He’s also a UW alum, and the republicans just lost the governorship. Haha.
Word is, Cheney will be the luncheon speaker on the 29th for the ‘Independent Business Association of Wisconsin’s Madison Day’. The conference takes place at the Monona Terrace, and I’m sure that not only will security be very tight, they’ll keep anyone away who doesn’t agree with the VP, for fear of the perpetuating the perception that people don’t agree with him or his policies.
I live in Madison and have an independent business…
Oh, you’ll need $75 for a ticket to attend too! :)
LOLlerskates, no I need that to pay you for hosting ;-)
When the US Mayors Conference came to Madison in June, the security was excessive( http://madison.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=5811&group=webcast ). I can’t imagine what the scene will look like when the Vice pResident visits. We may not get a view of him though - i’m sure his troglodyte tendencies have caused him to shun the world of us surface dwellers.
