CNN Hires Former White House Press Secretary Tony Snow Touting His Conservative Credentials

Tony Snow? At least Ari Fleischer would lie to you honestly.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Former White House press secretary Tony Snow will join CNN as a conservative commentator beginning Monday.CNN.com

When was the last time you ever heard of a major TV news network hiring, and then touting in any way whatsoever, a liberal commentator?

I mean, never mind hiring on Tony Snow of all people as a commentator. It’s just the sheer disregard for even pretending anymore to have objectivity from CNN.

Closer to the home front, this plays out the same way. Ever notice how the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has an all out branded “conservative” columnist, but not a “liberal” one to balance it out?

For both CNN and the J/S, there’s no need to promote liberal commentators, because everyone, well almost everyone, knows that both organizations are dominated by liberals.

All that “promotion” of Tony Snow and Patrick McIlheran does is make the CNN higher-ups (Ted Turner – liberal) and Sr Editors at the J/S feel like they’re being “fair” (which in fact they are not). Having dozens of liberal, or far from conservative, commentators on your staff and then adding ONE conservative commentator certainly does not make you fair and unbiased.

Regarding CNN, that’s a joke. Their daily lineup: Wolf Blitzer, Jack Cafferty, Glenn Beck, Lou Dobbs, Anderson Cooper. Cooper is so afraid of being labeled a “liberal” that he overcompensates in the other direction.

Who’s the “liberal”, or far from conservative columnist, at the Journal Sentinel again?

  3. Sean says:

Where do I start, oh, that’s right….Eugene Kane, and since the editorial board of the J/S don’t put their names on their articles (I’m guessing to reduce individual emails) I will put pretty much put the whole editorial board in that bucket.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on the CNN’s of the world. For me that network is completely biased, and it is more the fact of what they choose NOT to report vs what they in fact do report.

Fact is there are very few major outlets on TV or newsprint that are overtly conservative in comparison to those that are overtly (or more importantly, covertly) liberal. My next point is virtually impossible to prove, much less argue, but if I were a betting man (which I am) I would put a lot of money on the fact that a LARGE percentage of newspeople are going to be voting Democratic this year. The interesting thing about that is, that’s how they’ve voted in the past, and will continue to vote in the future. That’s OK, I just can’t believe those feelings are not going to seep into their thought process when “reporting” the news.

You realize that McIlheran is on the JS Editorial board, right? The Editorial Board that is SO LIBERAL is endorsed Scott Walker?

My original question stands: When was the last time you ever heard of a major TV news network hiring, and then touting in any way whatsoever, a liberal commentator?

Yeah I do know, and at least he has the decency to put his name to his opinions instead of hiding behind the pseudonym “Journal Editorial Board”. Still, the majority of that editorial board is in fact liberal. Who else did they endorse?? 75% of the Democratic candidates, 85%? I’m guessing closer to 90+%, with Walker being the only non-Democrat.

As for your original question, I answered it in my first comment….they don’t have to, because everyone knows that the majority of the people “reporting” the news IS liberal. That’s why they actually have to point out the person that has an opposite view.
