If I’m part of the Scott Walker campaign for Governor, I’m not sure I’d really be welcoming a public endorsement from Jessica McBride barely a week after her name is splashed throughout the media for cheating on her husband and having an affair with Milwaukee’s Police Chief.
At the same time, my support is with Walker. Simply put, I believe that Walker can win. I believe that he can change the political calculus in this state from “we can’t do anything” or “must raise taxes” inertia into “we can properly manage our fiscal house.”
Interesting that the Waukesha Freeman continues to keep her on as a “columnist” on their highly conservative opinion page. Oh, and one thing Jessica: County Executive Walker has never run for his position as a Republican.
I live in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Milwaukee, WI with my wife Jen, our daughter Emerson, and sons Carter and Colton.

Scott needs to take any endorsement or fiction he can get. A do-nothing he hardly fits McBride’s description “properly manage our fiscal house.” But it sounds great and gives comfort to his diminishing base.
So glad she gives lip-service to mark neumann based on his support of her husband. glad to see she’s such a loyal wife.
Meow!
Really, I don’t care what she does with her personal time but her holier-than-thou attitude is just more than I can take. And her track record as a prognosticator is less than sterling. This is the sharp mind who predicted a Doyle defeat four years ago.
You go, Jessica. It’s flawed voices like yours that are contributing to the decline and fall of the Republican party here in Wisconsin and elsewhere.
Dan:
Enlighten me further on this: “…County Executive Walker has never run for his position as a Republican.”
By law, the county executive position is non-partisan, but whatever election returns I can find online break the returns down by D and R with Walker winning by significant margins. Was his party affiliation just “known” or did the returns add party affiliation later? Or was Walker truly party of another party?
Matt
There is no party ID on the ballot for spring races. Where do you see that D and R?
In a November election, with candidates clearly identified by party label, Walker will not only not get 60% of the vote, but will be well under 50%.
Here’s what happened in the City of Milwaukee last November in a partisan election:
STRAIGHT PARTY OFFICE
Vote For 1
DEMOCRATIC (DEM) . . . . . . . . 128,171 85.36
REPUBLICAN (REP) . . . . . . . . 21,375 14.24
Returns that I’ve seen on the Net all match what’s on Walker’s Wikipedia page (yes I know anyone can write anything on Wiki, but I’ve checked elsewhere): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Walker_(politician)#Milwaukee_County_Executive_.282002-present.29
Looks like Walker’s lowest margin of victory is 10% and highest is 18%. That’s an impressive showing for a Republican in that county. Makes me wonder how conservative he really is.
As Bill pointed out, it’s a non-partisan race and I’ve never been aware of any news outlets reporting the returns as such.. If you found some that did label Walker as an “R”, I’d be interested in seeing that.
The wikipedia article you link to does label him as a Republican, which is correct. He is. But he wasn’t elected to County Exec. as one. The fact is, again as Bill points out, there are a lot of people who vote straight R or D ballots. That’s why I said previously that his assertion that he’s won in Milwaukee County as a “Republican” isn’t true.
Thanks, that answers my question.
Come on, aren’t we splitting hairs here?!?! Everyone knows, especially this last election, what party was represented by what politician. Of course no credible news outlet is going to put an R or D next to a name, but as the attached article indicates, they’re more than willing to cite past political jobs and their affiliated parties. http://www.todaystmj4.com/news/local/45624367.html
Just because you can’t put an “R” (or “D”) next to your name on the ballot doesn’t mean you’re not still a member of that party. To say that Walker didn’t win in Milwaukee County as a “Republican” is untrue, because he did.
One would think so, especially after having served in the Assembly and having run (briefly) for the GOP gubernatorial nomination, but I’m willing to suspend disbelief for argument’s sake.
It’s like how Sheriff Clarke won’t run as a Republican. He runs as a Dem, even though he preaches against the Democratic Party with a great passion and fervor.
