Well it’s disappointing, but the results are in and I won’t be advancing to the general election for Supervisor.
It’s tempting to go back and try to second guess how I ran my campaign, or think “if only X had happened” but like I said a few days ago I’m extremely pleased with how I ran my campaign. I didn’t pander to one group or another, I didn’t go negative, and I didn’t trade in my principles for votes.
I ran a very positive campaign, was honest with voters where I stood on the issues, and worked extremely hard over the past nine months. 2500 people believed in me which is no small number, and that is an honor in itself. At the end of the day though I didn’t win, and like I said above it’s obviously disappointing.
But that doesn’t mean I’m going away or will stop working on behalf of working families throughout Milwaukee County. One setback isn’t going to stop me from doing that, nor will it dissuade me from public service in the future at a time when perhaps the timing is more favorable.
One thing I’m going to miss most is knocking on doors and meeting people in the district and talking to them about the important issues we’re facing as a community.
I’d like to say thank you to all of those who helped my campaign over the last year. It really means a lot to have your support, and I truly appreciate what you’ve all done for me.
For the time being, I’m keeping my chin up and am looking forward to spending more time with Jenny and our kids. I’m also looking forward to getting my voice back and not spending every waking moment out in the brutal winter weather that we’re experiencing.
Thanks again and we’ll talk soon!
I live in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Milwaukee, WI with my wife Jen, our daughter Emerson, and son Carter.
Dan,
Disappointed in the results…but not with all the effort you have put forth during
the past months. I’m proud of the way you conducted yourself…in such a
professional and ethical manner. Don’t let it get ya down….just consider it
part of the “seasoning” process. You’ll be even better for your future
political endeavors! Keep up the good work!
Dan,
I want to congratulate you on what a great campaign you and your supporters ran. Throughout the whole campaign you were a gentleman and that goes to show the quality of person you are. Your thoughts on Lynne’s lack of effort as a County Supervisor have been fantastic and maybe that is why I am amazed that she still managed to get as much of the vote as she did. It was a pleasure getting to know you and hopefully we can get to know each other more in the months to come. Thanks again for running a clean and well thought campaign. Best of luck to you and your family.
Dan Wycklendt

Your Welcome, It was a pleasure to work on your campaign. I am glad that you were willing stick with your core values and NOT sell them out to get votes. Your message of moving Milwaukee County forward with progressive values and ideas is what this county needs. I look forward to help you out in future campaigns; any chance of a write in campaign? :)
Mr. Cody,
In all the years I’ve lived at my home in Story Hill, you are the first candidate show up at my door to talk to me about the election. Not just drop a campaign flyer on my doorstep, but actually take the time as you did to ask me what I thought was important. Most importantly as you mention above, you didn’t pander to us simply to be agreeable. My wife and I and our two teenage children were all so impressed with how you ran your campaign and we’re disappointed that you won’t be able to represent us at this time.
Going up against a well financed incumbent is very difficult to do. Getting the number of votes you did in spite of that fact was no small task and says a lot about you and how hard you must have worked.
Please keep in touch with us as to your future plans and please consider public service in the future. You’ve got a talent for connecting with people, and that’s something we need more of in government.
Michael
Where in the World is Jessica McBride?
What we have here is truly, “Failure to Communicateâ€
She seems to have gone the way of fellow right wing activist mover and shaker Todd Robert Murphy.
Remember Todd (my mother named me Todd Robert)?
Kingmaker, avid fund raiser for political insiders, panel member on the Belling Sunday morning show, a non indicted associate of many involved in the Bielinski “affair.†Some believe he was NGRR (Not Guilty by Reason of being Republican).
But back to Ms. McBride. I wonder what reason she gives the fertile young minds she fills with unbiased knowledge for her sudden cessation of blogging?
This, an election year, ripe with topics for columns full of her wit, wisdom, wishing, wondering and whitewashing but little from the Mistress of Spin but an occasional Henny Youngman one- liner accompanied by a link to someone else’s work.
John McCain goes from impossible recipient of the Republican nomination to the man that lost to the first African American President of the United States and Ms. McBride is not to be heard?
No comment on voter fraud/voter ID, Walker vs. Taylor or Gableman vs. Butler from the Mistress of Spin?
Truly, the silence IS deafening.
Would have been nice to have you as Supervisor, Dan.
Perhaps now you can devote some time to helping Lena Taylor’s campaign for County Executive? Check out [ http://www.lena2008.com ] for more info…
Cheers!
