What, Rudy, as opposed to taxing the ordinary people just as much so that the big businesses can have a nice tax break?

"at least [Democrats] only screw foreign nations, not their own people"

got to disagree, in spades

if you substitute "Liberals" then certainly this statement applies in my country too -- the Liberals are screwing the taxpayers, and it's merely semantics whether the taxpayers are "Liberal" people

see, this is what i find so objectionable about leftist policy -- it always assumes there's plenty of tax revenue, and conveniently plays down the fact that the creation of wealth must carry on, in fact accelerate, in order to have ever increasing tax revenues

leftists will tax the shit out of the system, and give it all away to the "disadvantaged" of one ilk or another, all in the name of "equality"

so yeah, they don't screw "their" people, if the leftists are comprised of all the disadvantaged groups -- they just screw the ordinary guys like you and me who pay all the taxes

Well if this Right Wing slide keeps going on I'll start considering my options with regards to moving to a different country.

I came here to get a whiff of freedom and a chance at education. Since coming to Minnesota education costs have risen 25% and freedoms have decreased by about the same. Somehow I don't think this is just a coincidence.

That is not to say the Democrats are much better, but at least they only screw foreign nations, not their own people.

"Jeremy, sure come on up. Can you stomach everything in French and English though?"
Um, mais oui!
And, sure, the politics are sam song, different title, but hey! the beer is a lot better!
Q: Why is American beer like making love in a canoe?
A: They're both f*cking close to water!

Yes, as Rudy said .. you need to add a target reference to your Comment link so that when one clicks on the Comments it goes to them.

GOP .. I'd never have figured that out in a million years... LOL

Jeremy, sure come on up. Can you stomach everything in French and English though? and you'll just be trading in the Democrats and Republicans for the Liberals and Conservatives .. I don't think it's any better or worse. We'll have a new Prime Minister in 2004 .. but the people don't get to vote .. which really pisses me off. Chretian (current PM) is retiring, so the party stays in power but just their members get to elect a new leader .. who will automatically become the PM until the next election. There is something really wrong with this set-up, if ya ask me anyway. Not that there's anyone else to even consider. Ahh, politics!!! Sure do get a lot more political news living in Ottawa .. either that or I just pay more attention now than I ever did. ;)

michele means that when she surfs to your blog, there's always some tasty article that's at the top of the page, and if she wants to comment on it, she clicks the "comments" link, and sure enough she ends up on a different page, the one for that article by itself with the accumulated comments under it plus the comment form at the bottom, but when she first gets there, it doesn't look like a different page at all!!!

"Just to be clear, I'm not going to be one of those people for whom the election doesn't go their way and turns into some sort of muttering-under-his-breath hermit. Yeah, I wish it had gone my way, but it didn't, and you can either accept that and try to fix it for next time, or get real bitter."

Me, I'm planning on going the muttering-under-my-breath bitterness route.

"they'll have no one to blame but themselves"

If logic applied, I'd agree with you, but the Republican administration hasn't displayed (or needed to display) much logic in their arguments thus far.
I think this isn't a bad post-mortem.

Mishka - is there room up there for one more?
