Good Luck Gals
Good news for the 142 million women in the U.S. of A.: George Bush’s recommendation for the chairman of the Food and Drug Administration’s panel on women’s health policy is a Kentucky ob-gyn who recently authored an essay entitled, “Using the Birth Control Pill is Ethically Unacceptable”!
But wait, theres more! The presidents proposal for the position that would influece all future FDA policy on womens health also doesn’t believe in contraception of any kind for single women and that headaches, PMS and eating disorders can be cured by reading scripture.
Forget Midol!! Jebediah is the cure for those cramps!
It’s simply amazing that heading into the year 2003, this kind of fundamentalist ideology is being advocated by the people that run our country and have the power to affect millions and millions of women. So, what can you do? How to help via the United Nations Population Fund, or speak out against this appointment at the NOW page linked above by clicking the ‘take action’ button. Better yet, write or fax your rep. in DC and tell them you “Oppose the Nomination of W. David Hager to Reproductive Health Drugs Advisory Committee”.
