MPS to explore dissolving district is the first thing I saw this morning after grabbing the paper. Talk about an attention grabbing headline.
I don’t have any special insight into this particular issue, but will point you at those like Jay Bullock who do, other than to say that the funding system for MPS has been a mess for the last decade. I’m glad some attention is being given to that fact.
The problem is that the powers that be have been busy pointing out that fact instead of actually working to address it.
I live in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Milwaukee, WI with my wife Jen, our daughter Emerson, and sons Carter and Colton.

I don’t have a lot of insight on this either, but since they’re spending roughly $12K/year per student, I’m sure you’ll hear some comments on that. Don’t have a lot of numbers, but for a minor comparison, Univ School Milwaukee has a per-pupil cost of over half again that figure.
The real problem in making comparisons on this topic is so few of the competing schools make their budgets public record. You know the tuition, but have to reason backward to get to the actual expenditure, if they even give you enough information to do that.
