Just checking out the article today and saw this:

"AOL doesn't really seem to have a motive for supporting Mozilla and Netscape anymore," said Jeff Howden, a Web applications developer and long-time member of evolt.org, a group of Web developers who have followed the browser wars over the years.

They must've changed something, eh?

Rudy, I've watched you post in many forums on the web, and I respect your knowledge, but I respectfully disagree with what you said above. I used to be on the evolt list, and found it pretty helpfull until I gave an opinion about a particular technology that the person in question happened to disagree with.He called my judgement and technical knowledge into question on a public forum when I disagreed with him, and some of those 'zingers' you mention were personal in nature. For what it's worth, he isn't always right, he just never admits he's wrong, big difference.Anyway, there are plenty of other places on the Web where people don't have to put up with one of the 'leaders' of the community belitteling people who happen to disagree with him/her, thank God.

yeah, .jeff can be brutal in an argument, but he is human, and cannot help slipping in a zinger or two from time to time

problem is, in most discussions he gets involved in, on technical issues, he (a) is right, and (b) has way more experience in the subject matter than the person he's arguing with

as for the founder thing, that was a mere editorial slipup

i read it as "a Web applications developer and [a] founder of evolt.org"

but perhaps most people would not

in any case, if he had had a chance to review it, i'm sure he would have corrected them on it

This is the same guy who compared PHP to "right-hand drive, rear-wheel drive,
manual transmission, with hand crank windows and pull-knob locks" on thelist mailing list today. With technical insight like that, and his demeaning nature towards anyone who disagree's with him, he's a perfect canidate for an article on wired.

About the founder thing, all the author of that article had to do was check evolt's very own history page for the truth. It's this kind of commitment to getting the FACTS that makes Wired such a great news source.
