I’ve been saying for years that in order to increase ridership and revenue on Milwaukee County buses, you have to increase services and cut fares. More people will ride the bus if they can catch one near their house and the price is low enough to compete with driving themselves.
Unfortunately, the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Transit Authority had to pay a consultant big bucks to give them that common sense advice.
Cutting fares and restoring slashed service could be key strategies for rescuing the financially troubled Milwaukee County Transit System, a nationally known transit consultant told the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Transit Authority today. – JSonline
I live in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Milwaukee, WI with my wife Jen, our daughter Emerson, and sons Carter and Colton.

Reading the article gives us an even better insight into the buffoonery of Scott Walker. He only cares about one thing — money (specifically, the property tax levy). His answer to the problematic state of the county parks was to suggest they be spun off into a separate authority — that way the tax dollars needed to support them could come out of someone else’s budget, not his. Note he’s not against someone else having to raise taxes to do what needs to be done; he’s only against raising the county’s property tax levy.
I keep hoping someone will shine a light on that cockroach’s schemes, but no one does. The only measuring stick he uses for “good government” is the property tax levy. He doesn’t care about what needs to be done or what should be done; he only wants to be able to say “I didn’t raise property taxes. I may have cut necessary services throughout my jurisdiction, and fought tooth and nail to ensure everything we already had would rot out from under us, but I didn’t raise the property tax levy. Because all I care about is money.” That’s the Scott Walker legacy.
I don’t know why Milwaukee County is so blind when it comes to him. Luckily the state voters could see through him, and shot down his campaign for governor quickly. (Ever notice that the media voices that love him so much don’t live in his jurisdiction?)
