In Brief: Domestic Partner Benefits for Wisconsin, Jay Weber Back on the Air, Bradford Triathalon Thank You
August 3rd, 2009
It’s the first Monday in August which means Lollapalooza in Chicago is just days away! Also today is the birthday of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. The future hall of famer is 32.
- Today is the first day in which same sex couples can file for domestic partner benefits. This is a big step forward for those who are fighting against discrimination based on sexual orientation, and it’s well past time for Wisconsin to get on board. Of course, that won’t stop conservative groups like Wisconsin Family Action from trying to prevent things like insurance benefits, Family & Medical leave act protections, and having visitation rights for straight and same sex couples in Wisconsin.
- My favorite right wing talk show host Jay Weber is back on the air after a week off. I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating… there’s a reason fill in hosts on AM talk radio are fill in hosts. Now I can enjoy listening to the right-wing position of the day from someone who at least brings some original thought to the table. Welcome back Jay!
- The Bradford Beach Triathalon was a big success yesterday in large part because of all those who volunteered themselves at 5am in the morning to make it happen. Thank you!

Congrats on the domestic partner benefits, Dan. I think the fuss about being able to use the term “marriage” is overblown (on both sides), but there is no excuse for denying equal tax treatment and access to government services.
Will you be at Lolla? I’ll be there.
Thanks for the welcome back. By the way, your house looks great. I tackled painting my own home about five years ago and it took me forever..and I was only doing one color! I can’t believe you knocked it out so quickly. You must have worked sun up to sun down.
