In Brief: Good Candidates, Bad Candidates & Ugly Smears

January 14th, 2011

Hard to believe it's the middle of January already. Thanks to all those who sent along birthday wishes last week for my 35th, it's very appreciated! In today's good news: pitchers and catchers report for the Brewers one month!

My friend Jason Haas has submitted his nomination papers to run for the open seat in the 14th district on the Milwaukee County Board. The seat was vacated by another friend, Chris Larson, who is now the State Senator from the district. If you live in the area (Bay Viewish), check out his Facebook page and consider voting for him in the upcoming election. He's a truly good guy.

If your message as a candidate four weeks before an election is "We're evicting her ass on Friday", as Lee Holloway said in today's paper, you've got issues. He's making "the white mans bitch" candidate (Griffen) in the race look polished. There are three serious candidates in the race for Milwaukee County Executive right now, Holloway isn't one of them.

Mark Belling continues to just make @#$! up on his radio program. The latest example is him smearing David Uihlein on his radio show earlier this week. When I talk about "responsibility free talk radio" this is exactly what I mean. Belling makes up whatever he wants to, pushes it as "fact" and when he's perpetually proven to wrong or lying, he just moves on. There's no accountability for him or WISN 1130, and that's what his listeners not only count on, but want. It's sad. it's also a reason David Uihlein is a well respected member of the community (regardless of this Marriott issue) and Belling isn't.

On a side note, it's interesting to see how the campaign workers from Tom Barrett's campaign for Governor have basically split between the campaigns for Jim Sullivan and Chris Abele. It's like a divorce with some of the kids going with mom and some going with dad.
