Brewers swept the Indians last night, and while my kickball team was on an offensive roll last night and won 21-1, I managed to seriously pull my right quad. I then compounded the problem by continuing to play. Happy Thursday, put me in coach!
- Tweet of the day from the local NBC affiliates weather guy: “@CraigKoplien: Watching big storms in Iowa. Could get to Milwaukee at 3-4-ish if they hold together. Also could weaken or dive into IL.” Yeah…. it could also snow or be totally sunny! Who knows?! We’ll throw it up against the wall and see what sticks!
- The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Patrick McIlheran continues to just make things up about me. It’s why he’s one of the most respected editorial writers on his street.
- If the weather holds up this evening, and I’d recommend looking outside instead of relying on the local weather guy above, join me at the opening “Music in the Gardens” event at 6pm in the Boerner Botanical Gardens. The Milwaukee Symphony Pops will be playing, admission to the gardens is free for the concert and there will be food and beverages on site. Stop by the Park People booth to say hi!
I live in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Milwaukee, WI with my wife Jen, our daughter Emerson, and son Carter.
Doesn’t “name-calling” entail calling someone names?
Ok, disrespectful and insulting: Yes, specific names: No. Really, you are splitting hairs here as your general tone and commentary toward McIlheran was more on the nasty and contemptuous side and less on the thoughtful and contemplative one. Clearly, that was your intent, so why quibble when called out on it. Or am I misinterpreting it?
Kickball? There are adult kickball leagues? No way!?! That sounds awesome. Where, might I ask, would one find such a thing? Understandable if you don’t want to tell me though… no worries there.
I’m not being nasty with regard to Patrick. Hes just not that good of a writer, much less when you realize half of what he does write for the JS is simply rehashing what other more original conservative writers have opined about.
When you get paid to write for a living you can’t just cry foul when called out about the quality of your work. Especially when it’s just an excuse to sidestep the real issues brought up.
As for kickball, I can’t tell if youre being serios but if so I’d be happy to share. It’s fun and a good stress reliever
No, I am interested in the kickball thing. I’m never facetious about stuff. I just offered that I would not be hurt if you prefer to keep that to yourself. I loved kickball as a kid, and I have a great time with the kids in the driveway, they like to practice for school. Sounds like a great way to play while not taking yourself too seriously.
As for Pat, I’d say that if the phrases “incoherent rambling” and “logically disjointed” appear in your post, and you end by calling for his dismissal from his job, nasty might be appropriate. Certainly your post was harsh commentary incited by your feelings about the left being blamed for what some elderly ex-Nazi did.
btw, It might be a learning moment if what you take from this is empathy for the way conservatives feel when they are lumped in with a homicidal nut simply because he shares their dislike for abortion.
We do the kickball through the Milwaukee Rec. department. The games are all at Wick Field, right next to the MPS admin building on Vliet. We’re in the lowest of the low divisions in terms of competitiveness, and besides totally blowing my quad, it’s a great time that no one takes to seriously.
We usually catch a beer after the game and it’s a fun time. If you’re interested, we’ve got a spot open on our team!
