These are elections for other offices which are opening up because terms are ending - in the US, Senators are elected for six years and representatives for two. Governors can vary from state to state. What this means is that there are elections for state-wide and local offices <i>every</i> year (although primarily in even-numbered years). By the way, don't let being from up there prevent you from vosting in our elections! As long as you're voting the correct way, many US municipalities will be happy to let you vote (and that's a bipartisan jab...)! Jeremy Mishka-
