So I'll ask again, what's your answer for dealing with the fact that gasoline prices for the police and EMS crews have gone up?

Maybe you should be a little upset by the massive profits the oil companies are making on the backs of governments need to buy gasoline from them.

In my example above, that was the question posed about the price of gasoline going up and government having to pay for it.

That's got nothing to do with health care costs or your anti-union rhetoric. It's got everything to do with the fact that someone is making a heck of a lot of money off the price of gas these days at the expense of taxpayers.

There used to be a time when conservatives stood up against the fleecing we're being subjected to by big oil. Why not any more?

How about we start with City and County workers paying the same for their "rock star" health care that private employees do. The reason you have the 8 inches or higher mandate (along with other reductions) is because those are the only options that are out there, unless you want to get the unions getting their you-know-what in a bunch.

Wisconsin is a heavily taxed state (year after year we're in the top 5 or 10 heaviest taxed), yet people want to keep raising taxes and take more money out of our pockets. When gas prices or food prices, or any cost for that matter, goes up I and everyone else has to let something suffer. We don't go to the Dells this summer, we don't do that upgrade on a house, we shop at Aldi's instead of Pick & Save, we don't have the "wonderful" option of taking money from someone else to pay for stuff. Government shouldn't be any different, because if your answer to high gas prices for government automobiles is increasing taxes, what kind of burden are you putting on your citizens?

"The problem with blowing the same horn again and again and again is it starts to get rusty after a while." - bold comment, considering the common liberal solution to everything is to raise taxes, or the ever popular mantra "Tax the rich".....talk about a horn getting rusty.

If you make more than $2.9 million/year, I'm afraid to break the fact to you that Sen. Obama isn't your person.

If you make up to $161k/year, Obama will save you $2,200 on your taxes. McCain will save you $2,600/year.

I'm curious where you think we should reduce waste in Milwaukee? The policy for cutting grass in the County parks, to cut "the waste", now says it has to be 8 inches or higher before it's cut.

Would you propose we let it grow to 12 inches before we mow the lawns in Milwaukee to "cut the waste"? Should we cut even more bus routes to "cut the waste"?

I know it's a popular, and single minded, card for conservatives to play. The answer is always to "CUT THE WASTE"!

Like a cut of steak though, there's only so much fat you can trim before you start cutting off the meat as well. Which from the conservative perspective of "less government and services is more!" is often the goal. We've had six years of cutting waste, so I'll pose my question again and ask what areas you think we should cut further?

Are gas prices not going up for government as well? How do you recommend they "cut the waste" there? Fewer squad cars? Only responding to "serious" fires? Removing street sweepers? Using goats to cut the grass instead of lawn mowers?

Where does it end?

As I read this post (and the numerous others throughout the last several months), I was wondering how much of my disposable income do you want to take? You advocate the following:

1) 100's of millions of dollars to build a light rail system in Milwaukee County - my taxes increase.

2) Many more MILLIONS of dollars to upkeep and subsidize said transit system - my taxes increase.

3) 100's of millions of dollars to expand light rail after the KRM system (see #1) is built - my taxes increase

4) Numerous millions of dollars to get the parks and parks employees where you would like them to be - my taxes increase

5) Another shot of several million dollars to get the bus system and other county programs to where you think they should be - my taxes increase

6) Untold costs for universal healthcare - my taxes increase (not to mention losing quality in the process - see Canada)

7) A presidential candidate that wants to rescind the Bush tax cuts on the "super wealthy", which according to Barak Obama's statistics I am. Interesting that I live in a duplex on the West Side of Milwaukee, live virtually paycheck to paycheck and I'm considered "super wealthy" - Make a long story short, more money out of my pocket.

8) Billions of dollars propping up failed or failing government programs that are going to require MORE money from people to support baby boomers and the like - my taxes increase.

These are just a few of the potential "hands" that could be reaching into my wallet to take more money from me and my family. When does it end? When is enough, enough? When will the government look to reduce waste before going to the American, Wisconsin, or Milwaukee tax payer to cure all ills? It's no wonder that Scott Walker beats the "hold the line on taxes" drum; there's a large segment of people that continue to expect taxpayers to constantly dig into their wallet for this stuff, while gas prices keep going up, food prices are skyrocketing, amongst other things. Tell me now, so I can start escrowing each year to pay for all of this.
