How Mavricky! Sen. McCain’s bad last couple week continues:
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and his top aides took credit for building a winning bailout coalition – hours before the vote failed and stocks tanked.
The rush to claim he had engineered a victory now looks like a strategic blunder that will prolong the McCain’s campaign’s difficulty in finding a winning message on the economy.
Shortly before the vote, McCain had bragged about his involvement and mocked Sen. Barack Obama for staying on the sidelines. – Politico
I live in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Milwaukee, WI with my wife Jen, our daughter Emerson, and son Carter.
I was glad to see the deal had tanked. I’d rather see the giverment helping people out facing foreclosure than helping out all of the people encouraging people to get risky mortages and invloved with reselling what they knew to be overly risky mortages.
The idea of bailing out the investors and letting the home owners still suffer (especially considering the changes in bankruptcy laws a fear years ago) seemed wrong.
I’ve noticed that the Journal Sentinal seems to be very dismissive of the large number of citizens who have been telling their representatives they don’t want to have the government bailout wallstreet investors. They have also been characterizing elected officials who are against the bailout as playing partisan politics. And this isn’t just on the editorial pages.
