Milwaukee County Sup. Chris Larson Announces He’s Running Against State Sen. Jeff Plale
I told people this would happen a few weeks ago, but tonight Milwaukee County Supervisor Chris Larson will officially announce his campaign for State Senate in the 7th district. The seat is currently held by Sen. Jeff Plale.
He’ll be officially announcing tonight at the “Bold Yet Original Studio” (2246 S. Kinnickinnic Ave) with a kick off fundraiser at 6pm.
As I’ve mentioned in the past, Chris is an energetic young politician who is a true friend of parks and transit in Milwaukee County.
I wish him all the best. Taking on an entrenched incumbent is no easy thing to do, but Chris has never ran from tough challenges in his two years as a County Supervisor, and I don’t expect him to stop now.

I met Supervisor Larson at a community meeting recently. I found him thoughtful, focused and totally engaged with his constituents. If that would continue in the state senate, then he would make a great state senator.
I was astounded by the number of people at the event tonight. Chris has a large number of very enthusiastic supporters, myself included. We’re going to rock this one!
… just don’t let him near the honor bar.
On the bright side, I hear he has some very “innovative” ways of closing budget holes.
What are yours?
I rather think that a surplus requires too many budget holes be closed.
To further reduce the budget, I suspect my first inclination would be a massive reduction (perhaps near elimination) of county government… especially in the areas where it overlaps other units of government.
I’d also think that the parks and MCTS would be able to operate quite efficiently on their own.
How about this for a start… let’s cut the pay of all the part-time supervisors by 20%.
In any case, I would NOT recommend retail theft as a method of cost control… nor would I recommend adding any more thieves to the county board. Ridiculous.
I thought CRG expunged the county board of thieves.
Had you done nothing stupid when you were 18 years old?
Probably nothing that anonymous commenters could later find out about and mock you over, anyway.
I see you are in favor of wholesale budget reduction. Why is that? What benefit would be served by reducing the budget?
Yes, nothing stupid since he was 18 years old. Ignorance or arrogance–take your pick: http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwaukee/88921022.html
“As soon as I knew the severity of it, I turned it over and STARTED to comply immediately,” Larson said.
…and certainly NOT to the state senate!
Dan, Who do I contact regarding a House Party for Chris Larson. Cheri
I’m glad we are going to spend money and resources to defeat democrats. Every dime that goes to either candidate would be better spent supporting Sen. Sullivan and Sen. Lehman or any other state rep. or state Senator. The majority is at stake as well as redistricting. If we loose Sullivan and one other in the Senate it goes GOP. If we loose a couple of seats in the Assembly it goes GOP. If the GOP draws the next legislative map say good bye to at least two Milwaukee legislative seats.
Enjoy eating your own.
I am part of a business in Plale’s district. On every (!) issue I have written him about he has essentially told me to go to h..l. I will support Chris Larson in the primary. Let Jeff get a real job.
