It really must stink for the County Executive to have his grand plans for privatization questioned by the local media at such a critical time in his campaign for Governor.
Sometimes privatization just isn’t the answer to every problem Government faces.
I live in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Milwaukee, WI with my wife Jen, our daughter Emerson, and sons Carter and Colton.

Neither are sales tax increases couched as property tax relief, or double digit tax increases by MPS, or proposed sales tax increases by the every vigilent KRM group, or…..
I’m glad that we finally have a way to actually reduce property taxes. You’d think that with all the moaning and shouting about property taxes that somebody would’ve been able to come up with a way to effectively lower them. But we haven’t seen any from Walker that didn’t entail strangling the county government. This was a bold step forward for Milwaukee (City and County).
Jason,
The ability to reduce property taxes and the desire to do so are two different things. The countywide sales tax proposal touts property tax relief, but just like in 1991, there will be no wording guaranteeing lasting property tax relief. Therefore this tax will turn out to be just another tax increase the consumers of SE Wisconsin have to bear.
Also, increasing taxes, especially in an economy where people need all the money they can muster, is not only not a “bold step forward”, but an absolute joke!
