More Corruption From House Republicans
The twist this time is the Represenative from California actually admits his guilt:
Rep. Randy “Duke” Cunningham pleaded guilty Monday to conspiracy and tax charges and tearfully resigned from office, admitting he took $2.4 million in bribes to steer defense contracts to conspirators. - CNN.com

Yea, he does admit his guilt, what a breeze of fresh air. That is something new for politicians. And don’t give me any thing about Republican, guys from either party are equally good at trying to squirm out of tight spots when they get caught. If you read the news as much as I do, you know there are plenty from either party guilty of this.
I am one who believes if you do the crime then you should pay the consequences. I don’t get away with with unethical and dishonest business deals and practices in running my business, nor should anyone else, especially those in power. I was raised Amish and dishonesty makes me sick with disgust, no matter who it is. And there is plenty to go around these days.
But I do give him a measure of respect for standing up and taking responsibility. But that dosen’t mean he shouldn’t pay for the crime, whatever it is that a court decides.
And I also think this crap of accusing and convicting people before they are proven guilty has become a favorite American sport, and it is wrong. Imagine yourself accused of some terrible crime, and your name gets trashed in the news, your neighborhood, your church, your friends, and you are sitting there knowing your innocent. We are assumed innocent in this country until proven guilty, and there are a lot of people throwing a lot accusations around, with no evidence, no proof, mostly just because they are members of the opposite party and are trying to gain a foothold on anything they can to scramble to the top of the heap. And they don’t really care who they trample on the way up. If a person can get their emotions disengaged and engage their brain it is pretty obvious.
Al Franken wouldn’t know the truth if it bit him and he got rabies. In fact the truth would probably give him rabies. I’m sure there are about 20% of the population that will eat it up, but that is the usual group.
The things this guy has said pretty much marginalizes him to a certain portion of the population. The moderate folks, who are looking for a more nuetral moderate government, somewhere down the middle of the political spectram, don’t even bother with people like him, not worth the time it take to think about it.
And the same with those who are way on the other side of the spectram. Just let those two extreme side bear each other up, and hopefully we will land in the middle. Of course my middle and your middle are probably not the same
