I’m sure I’ll catch a lot of crap for touching what is a very taboo subject right now, but I have a pretty simple question about the Isreal/Lebanon war going on right now.
Is this little girl a terrorist?

Or this little boy?

I’m seriously wondering because I’ve seen a lot of pictures coming out of Lebanon of injured and maimed children and their families whose injuries were caused by bombs or artillery shells.
I live in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Milwaukee, WI with my wife Jen, our daughter Emerson, and sons Carter and Colton.

So, what would you do? Ask Hezbollah pretty please make it stop?
I don’t think its Hezbollah that caused that girls face to be scared for life.
James, a start would be to stop indiscriminate shelling/bombing/missles of areas where there are high concentrations of civilians or UN peace keepers.
Mike – it isn’t and it is Hezbollah’s fault. When you use innocent civilians as shields, they are going to get hit once in a while. While tragic, it’s a reality.
Dan – The problem is that Hezbollah is shooting at soldiers and using highly populated civilian areas as military positions. As for the UN peace keepers (I won’t even ask why “peace keepers” are in the middle of a WAR!!) – Hezbollah positioned their rocket launching apparatus next to the UN “compound” – therefore Israel decided to take out the rocket launchers – it sucks, but “war is hell”. Here’s the thing about Hezbollah – they use our (The West’s) own civility against us. They know we are hesitant to inflict damage on civilian areas, so they “hole up” there.
Did you see the video in the other link I posted about how the family that was hit by a bomb was hundreds of yards away from the ‘target’ trying to flee when they were hit?
Even when their are military targets in civilian areas, it’s STILL ILLEGAL under international law to target those areas!
International Humanitarian Law, particularly the Law of Geneva prohibits attacks which do not attempt to distinguish between military targets and civilians or civilian objects. It also prohibits attacks which, although aimed at a legitimate military target, have a disproportionate impact on civilians or civilian objects. But hey, kill ‘em all and let god sort ‘em out, right!?
The UN team that was killed wasn’t in ‘the middle’ of the war, they were an observation team, who were.. you know, observing from miles away. I haven’t heard before you mentioned it that there were any enemys positioned near them. What I have heard is that the UN team was in constant communication with the Isrealis about their position, and had radioed them ten times to get the bombing/shelling to stop on their position before they were killed.
So if a UN force outside of the war zone who are in constant contact with the military still gets killed, I don’t see how any innocents have a chance of not getting bombed either.
They do use our civility against us, they’re terrorists. That doesn’t make it OK for us to lower our standards. Wake up.

Yes.
“Hundreds of yards” – that says a LOT about how good the Israeli military is when you are upset about hitting a person “hundreds of yards” from a target.
I haven’t heard before you mentioned it that there were any enemys positioned near them.
“He accused Hezbollah militants of positioning rocket launchers beside U.N. sites, a practice that has been reported by U.N. officials in recent days.” — LA Times
Where do you get your news? I’m not being a dink, I’m genuinely curious.
Wake up.
LOL. Nice. I will not respond to this immature comment.
But hey, kill ‘em all and let god sort ‘em out, right!?
It’s spelled God.
So they hit a car hundreds of yards away from the primary target, and that’s ‘good’ in your opinion? Your original response commented on how civilians were being used as human shields, but even when they’re not, it’s ‘good’. OK then. Those little kids are maimed FOR LIFE, so yes I’m upset about it and I can’t understand why as a father, you’re not either.
About the LA Times article, the quote is, He accused Hezbollah militants of positioning rocket launchers beside U.N. sites, a practice that has been reported by U.N. officials in recent days. The ‘he’ is the Isreali ambassador btw, and he’s talking in generalities, not about the specific incident.
Still no answer on why even with assurances from the Isrealis and in constant communication they were still bombed and killed.

I am saying that most of the time, the Israelis are so precise in their attacks that you are shocked when they are off by “hundreds of yards”. Is it good to miss the target? Heck no! Is it something that is going to happen in war? Probably.
Those little kids are maimed FOR LIFE, so yes I’m upset about it and I can’t understand why as a father, you’re not either.
It IS upsetting!! Terribly. I don’t think you understand what I write here 90% of the time. When I look at those pictures my stomache turns and that video was almost too much to continue watching.
The ‘he’ is the Isreali ambassador btw, and he’s talking in generalities, not about the specific incident.
The part of the quote I’m trying to point out to you is that even the UN acknowledges Hezbollah militants place rocket launchers beside UN sites. This specific incident was probably no different. You have to get my perspective – I have strong support for Israel and give them the benefit of the doubt. They are the good guys in this unfortunate “war”. (that’s my persepctive so you can see where I’m coming from).

Israel has already answered that question … it was an accident. Not to sound callous, but if I’m in the middle of a war zone and I get shot/bombed/killed it would be ridiculous of me to then question how something like that could happen. I mean – they were in the middle of a friggin’ war zone. War is hell. I believe the Israelis missed their intended target.
Why are you not upset about the Israelis that are killed during this war? Where are the complaints when a 15 year old Israeli girl gets killed from Hezbollah rockets? Did I miss a blog post(s)?
Interesting to read these reports. Apparently the UN posts face more fire than we (you and I) were previously aware of.
Oh yeah … fire from BOTH sides. And BTW, when they need medical attention, they were brought by the IDF to Israel for treatment.
I’ll stop flooding you with comments, but another report dated yesterday talks about Hezbollah firing from UN positions.
From the report … “It was also reported that Hezbollah fired from the vicinity of four UN positions at Marwahin, Alma Ash Shab, Brashit, and At Tiri.”
Just wanted to provide data for my comments above.
