Move Over Al Gore
Everyone’s favorite teller of tall tales, Dave WIner, has one upped Al Gore (father of the Internet) by saying he was shipping computer source code before there was the ‘concept’ of Open Source software like the Linux Operating System. See, by mixing the terms ’source code’ and ‘open source’ - which are not the same thing - he wants to push the notion that he was way ahead of the popular Open Source revolution. So, while the term ‘Open Source’ was only coined in the late 90’s, the belief behind it — that computer source code should be available to anyone to modify for free — has been around well…. since as long as computers have. So Dave, get some integrity and stop trying to advance your dislike for Open Source software by pretending that you somehow came up with the concept first. It’s nothing new. Al Gore tried the same stunt, and people saw through that just as easily as your latest Tall Tale.
I fear for you, Dan. If you keep up this “Anti-American” rhetoric, the guys in that black van parked in front of your apartment are going to come knocking on your door and haul you away…
