Muslims Kicked Off Plane For Saying Evening Prayers
Sad.
Muslim leaders expressed outrage on Tuesday after six imams were removed from a commercial airline flight in Minnesota for what they said was nothing more than trying to say evening prayers. Reuters
It’s a new era of discrimination in post 9/11 America.
Imagine for a moment the outrage if a group of Christians were kicked off a plane and held on suspicion of terrorism for saying prayers in the airport terminal.
Oh yeah, just six poor men trying to pray.
After reading the article, I’m sure you’ll apologize and say you didn’t get all of the information before passing judgment.
I don’t have anything to apologize for, and I stand by what I said before passing the judgement, as you call it, of “sad” and asking about the situation were they Christians.
What do you have against Muslims? You’re implying that they’re just as guilty of “something” as they were originally made out to be.
While the referenced article does suggest that they were trying to bring attention to themselves, it was still an overreaction to treat them like criminals (well more criminal than the everyone who flies is treated).
There seem to be a lot of people who think discrimination is OK as long as they aren’t the ones being discriminated against.
One recent letter to the editor in the JS suggested that it was worth significantly harrassing 10000 people to keep one terrorist off a plane. (Not that one unarmed terrorist on a plane could do anything terrible that wouldn’t be easier to do someplace else.) At one time Ben Franklin thought it was better that 100 guilty men go free than one innocent man be punished. I guess attitudes of citizens have changed a lot since then.
