There seem to be a lot of people who think discrimination is OK as long as they aren't the ones being discriminated against. One recent letter to the editor in the JS suggested that it was worth significantly harrassing 10000 people to keep one terrorist off a plane. (Not that one unarmed terrorist on a plane could do anything terrible that wouldn't be easier to do someplace else.) At one time Ben Franklin thought it was better that 100 guilty men go free than one innocent man be punished. I guess attitudes of citizens have changed a lot since then.
