It's with a great amount of sadness and excitement that I want to share some big news for me and my family.
I've accepted a position with Apple, Inc as "Manager, Email & Collaboration Services" starting July 1st.
Basically, I'll be managing the team that runs the email, calendar and file storage for the 100K+ employees at Apple. It's a very exciting opportunity for me professionaly to say the least. It's also very exciting and humbling to be working for a company like Apple with it's awesome people, unique culture and cutting edge technology. For someone in my profession, this is like being called up to the majors by the Yankees. I'll be working out of the Cupertino (Soon to be Sunnyvale) headquarters.
Which leads to the other range of emotions. It's going to be very hard for me and the family to leave Milwaukee and Wisconsin. Jenny and I have lived in Milwaukee for nearly 15 years and started a family here. During that time, we've both been very involved in making Milwaukee a better place to live and have made countless friends along the way.
We'll be providing more details in the near future and of course will be having some sort of going away party to say good bye in a way that only Milwaukee does. I hope to be able to say good bye to many of you personally in the next few weeks.
This was by no means an easy decision for us to make. I've put more than half my adult life into this City and leaving that behind isn't easy. Nor is pulling four kids out of school and shipping them across the Country. But at the end of the day we decided that collectively it was the best long term decision we could make for the future of our family, and that outweighs any personal/selfish desire we may have to stay.
Both Jenny and I will truly miss Milwaukee and Wisconsin and you, our friends and family. We wish you all the best as we embark on the latest adventure for our family.
