If anyone was watching the Democratic Convention tonight, you may have caught Sen. Obama’s two small children towards the end of the night talking with their dad via teleconference.
While I thought Michelle Obama’s speech was excellent, her two young daughters stole the show at the end of the night.
I live in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Milwaukee, WI with my wife Jen, our daughter Emerson, and sons Carter and Colton.

Yeah – kids are cute and all, yada yada yada, but I don’t know how to feel about exploiting them for political gain.
You even commented to Go Celtics about “not bringing your family into this”.
I am not busting chops here, just trying to start dialogue. How is him exploiting his kids a positive thing?
ha, ha! Dan, you totally called it! ;)

Yeah – totally called someone starting dialogue? Oh hahahah … rolling on the floor this is so funny. Anyway, Dan – would you like to comment on this. Again – I’m not busting chops. Ok with you, Jen?
As a side note, I was impressed with Ted Kennedy last night. I REALLY do not like the guy, but I admire his getting up and speaking given his current condition. Maybe he had selfish reasons, maybe this, maybe that, the fact of the matter is, he got his butt there to speak. Cheers, Mr. Kennedy.
Michelle Obama makes me sick to be honest, but she was better than Teresa Heinz Kerry four years ago.
What was brutal, though, was Nancy Pelosi. OMG – If I were a Dem I would want to keep her out of sight as much as possible. I would put her on the same timeslot as the Repubs should put Bush .. like 4am on Monday. lol
This was not the Michelle Obama I know. It was a Democrat construct for consumption in TV Land.
The Democrat convention has all the drama of an infomercial, in fact, it is an infomercial. Everything is scripted, nothing spontaneous will happen, even the audience response is scripted.
The Republican convention will be equally scripted.
I’m old enough to remember when political conventions actually mattered and the outcome was uncertain. I remember when delegates actively supported the candidate of their choice and wheeled and dealed to get a majority behind him. Are you old enough to remember a convention that was not scripted?
Now conventions are just free political air time on the MSM.
Michelle Obama’s speech, at least, was well delivered and well received while Ted Kennedy was vintage Ted. Nancy Pelosi, however, had all the presence of a dead mackeral. Her speech was flat and the audience looked alternately bored and distracted.
Alleged “real people” to appear at the Democrat convention!

Exploiting the kids? Hardly. I think that’s a pretty silly charge to be honest, but one that is predictable.
I’m happy with the convention so far. Most of the comments above with regard to Kennedy and Michelle Obama’s speeches are pretty much how they’re playing out across the Country.
Clinton’s speech tonight was also good and for the most part, she said everything I was hoping she’d say, and the Obama campaign deserves credit for giving her a prime speaking slot.
