Predictions of Rudy Giuliani’s Downward Spiral Coming True

December 20th, 2007 by Dan Cody Leave a reply »

Not great news for Rudy: His national poll numbers are now tied with Gov. Huckabee and his “firewall” strategy of losing everything up till the Florida primary is showing just how ill-conceived a plan it really was.

Since the beginning, I’ve been saying that the more Republican voters actually learn about Rudy, the less likely they’re going to be to support him, and you’re starting to see the polling reflect that.

The whole “strategy” of losing every primary up till Florida is about as much of a winning idea as letting the opposing team run up the score on you up till 2:00 left in the 4th quarter and then calling “hail mary” plays to win.

    Yeah, but what about Hillary?

  2. Daniel Cody says:

Her national polling is still very high and she’s continuing to keep a good deal of distance, again nationally, between herself and the next two candidates. link.

There are vast differences between her and Rudy’s campaigns though, the biggest one strategy wise being that she isn’t relying on a “firewall” strategy like Rudy.

I think that Rudi is toast. What intrigues me is the Hillary campaign, she has lots of enemies, inside and outside the Party; too, there are many people who just won’t vote for her (personally, I think 28 years of Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton is too much to bear). I had originally predicted that she’d be the Democrat nominee, now I’m not so sure.

Well for once we’re on the same page on a majority of the points! :)

I’m with you on the thoughts about toast, dynasty’s, and predictions. Especially when you consider GHWB #41 was VP for eight years, you’ve got 80-88 of a Bush VP, 89-92 of a Bush President, 93-00 of a Clinton President, 01-08 of Bush #43 and the chance for another Clinton (#44) for 09-16. That’s an entire generation governed by the same two families, or just about my entire lifetime, and it’s not something I’m 100% comfortable with, as many of my friends know.

Still, if she is my party’s nominee, I’ll support her.
