President Bush Tries to Claim November Elections Were a Mandate for His “Surge”

Published by Daniel Cody at 10:07 am under Politics

More today from the ongoing saga of “President Bush: Reality Be Damned!”:

Last November, the American people said they were frustrated and wanted a change in our strategy in Iraq. I listened. Today, General David Petraeus is carrying out a strategy that is dramatically different from our previous course. - President Bush

Dear President Bush; there’s spin and there’s you trying to claim that the 2006 midterm elections were anything other than a complete rejection of you, your party, and your policy. Voters went to the polls to choose Democrats for a reason, and the message wasn’t for you to get a “do over” in Iraq, it was for them to change the course of the war and start bringing our troops home.

Seriously. Get over yourself and stop living in a state of denial,

Dan
