Russ For President in 08?
Wisconsin’s very own Sen. Russ Feingold expressing interest in a Presidential bid in 2008?
U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis., told the Tiger Bay Club of Volusia County on Friday that he’ll decide whether to run after “going around the country” working to return a Democrat to the White House.
Go Russ!
Russ is the greatest. A short, short man - but a great Senator. One of the few politicians you can actually root for.
Let me take this time to tell you the story of the last time I met Russ. He walked up to me, and I reached for his extended right hand with my own right hand, then followed up by taking his right elbow with my *left* hand. Looking him squarely in the eyes, I nodded as I greeted him with a very distinguished “Senator.”.
Then he took off to talk to someone important.
Great story, Bry. Here’s mine from a few years ago…
Russ walked towards me and extended his right hand, which held a crisp $10 bill and some loose change. As I took the money from him with my own right hand, carefully placing my left hand under his right hand to catch any falling loose change, I asked, in a very distinguished way, “Anything to drink with your order today, Senator?”
“No, thanks,” he replied.
Then, once again, he left to go talk to someone important.
First time I read the title I thought you meant Russ from f2o. :)
Oh good. Russ, Patriot Act, Feingold. God I hope I’m done with school before 2009 so I can go home. This is getting scary.
What’s scary about it? He was the only one to vote against the Patriot Act, a bill that no one even read that stiffles civil liberties and was passed in the dead of the night.
Dan,
Ah, I was misinformed. After googling and finding his article against the Patriot Act I am much impressed.
I am not sure I like his stance on Palestine, but he seems redeemable.
Go Cheeseheads!
Russ needs to learn some history. Senators don’t win Presidential elections, except when running against other non-governors.
The road to the White House runs through the State House, not the Senate Building.
That aside, I like Russ. I liked him back when he was my Mom’s state senator. It’s just the American voter will take *any* governor over a Senator. Personally, I can’t come up with the last time a Senator defeated a Governor for president.
