Scott Walker’s “68 Page Jobs Plan!”? Reduce the Huge Text Size and It’s Three Pages
Hilarious and telling. Scott Walker’s campaign brags about his 68 page economic plan as an answer to Tom Barrett’s 67 page plan. Because the plan is longer, it’s better!
From the ScottWalker.org website:
Rather than put out thick packet of fluff that few will read, Scott Walker is actually proposing ideas that will fundamentally change the direction of our state for the better. Still, while Barrett’s plan is lacking in ideas and vision, we confess it does have a lot of pages – 67 to be exact. So, not to be outdone, the Team Tosa Blog is proud to present Scott Walker’s 68 PAGE JOBS PLAN!
It’s the best of both worlds: good, substantive ideas for people who are into that type of thing, but also lots and lots of pages!!!
Sounds awesome, right!?? Because it’s lots and lots of pages!
Well if you actually download the PDF of the 68 page jobs plan, here’s what you’re greeted with:
Because they made the text size so big you can read it from Russia, a tactic 9th graders trying to stretch out their 10 page report on Georgia’s peanut based economy often resort to, you quickly get the sense of how they got to 68 pages. Seriously, that’s not me messing with the fonts or anything, that’s how they got to 68 pages to “out do” Tom Barrett’s 67 page jobs plan. Lots and lots of pages!
And because it has more pages, it must be better!
For the record, I copy & pasted the document into Microsoft word and used a normal size font with regular line spacing:
So it might not jump out at you anymore from neighboring states, but what should catch your attention is that Scott Walker’s entire economic jobs plan for Wisconsin if he’s elected Governor is a whopping three and a half pages long. 1018 words.
I don’t know if it’s some lame joke by the Walker campaign, but it’s not April 1st and Wisconsin doesn’t have 0.1% unemployment.
While Walker’s economic plan for Wisconsin is easy to laugh at, we need someone in charge who can deal with the situation seriously. It’s going to take a heck of a lot more than a couple pages of “lower regulation, lower taxes” rhetoric to turn this state around.

What this does boil down to is Walker really doesn’t take the job seriously, nor do his supporters care about the future of this state.
nor do his supporters care about the future of this state.
Quite the contrary Keith. When you get older, you will realize that just because you disagree with someone, it does not mean that person “does not care”.
A prime example is me and Dan – I like Dan a great deal. We disagree politically on pretty much everything. Does that mean Dan “does not care”? Hell no!
Yeah, man. Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
Haha .. I love the compassionate “left”.
You appear to be one of those idiot right wingers that think the “compassionate left” has to except every fault that others have. Not true, dummy. Having compassion does not require one to suffer idiots without comment.
ooops. “accept” every fault. boiled down, if you choose to be an idiot, the left doesn’t need to be wholly noncritical of you. that isn’t what “compassion” is. dummy.
Not true, dummy.
Dummy? Really? Laughable and childish.
A quick conversion to text of Barrett’s plan turns out 23,678 words for those wondering.
A quick conversion to text of Barrett’s plan turns out 23,678 words for those wondering.
What does this fact prove?
It proves that Barrett has put a lot more thought into and paid a lot more attention to the problem.
Simple answers for simple questions.
So to you guys …
Lots of pages = lots of thought.
That is exactly what the Walker campaign was making fun of! This is too rich.
I am not sure, but … I don’t think you get the joke. I think it is hilarious. See, the Walker campaign was pointing out …. ah nevermind. He’s a Republican, you would not laugh even if you DID think it was funny.
it might be funny it it weren’t so serious. walker offers NOTHING, so he resorts to lame devices to try and hide his inability to formulate a good plan.
if walker was a car manufacturer, his plan to build a car would be like this, on 1 page: 1. Put engine in. 2. Put wheels on. 3. Fill with gas.
his competitor’s instructions would cover many more pages, and more detailed info.
walker would mock it, because it has details. and that’s because he doesn’t know HOW to build anything. typical republican.
and Wisconsin doesn’t have 0.1% unemployment.
Yeah, gee, thanks Democrats! How about we keep more of Doyle’s policies that put us in this mess?! Also – Barrett is Obama’s handpicked candidate. No thanks.
Personally I think Barrett has some good ideas how to handle MPS and I wish he would get more support in those ideas. As for Wisconsin, we need a cleansing – Barrett – no thanks. Barrett made a mistake associating with Obama and crew. Feingold, even being the creep he is, is intelligent enough to run as far from Obama as he can.
How about we keep more of Doyle’s policies that put us in this mess?
The recession is nation wide. To say that it’s solely the fault of Gov. Doyle isn’t accurate. Wisconsin’s 7.8% unemployment rate is 19th in the nation. It’s better than states like Texas, Mississippi, Georgia, Arizona and South Carolina.
By your reasoning, the Governors of those states must be even worse than Gov Doyle, right?
The U3 unemployment rate in general is not useful. It only counts people actively looking for work, which is basically just people who are still eligible for unemployment compensation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unemployment#United_States_Bureau_of_Labor_Statistics
It’s fine to talk about as a general trend, but you can’t draw conclusions by comparing measurements across states, etc., especially since different states have different levels of UC benefits.
You have similar problems with poverty rates. Poverty level is a national threshold, but cost of living varies drastically. $20k household income in Kokomo, IN is equivalent to $37k in Seattle, WA — nearly double.
Why do you think Feingold is a creep?
Why do you think Feingold is a creep?
A few reasons. I used to like him until late last year. Too difficult for me to explain on a comment section in a blog.
The recession is nation wide.
Yes – thanks to Pelosi, Reid and Obama.
In Wisconsin Dems have been in control of the budget and have been pathetic at best.
I cannot believe you actually support Doyle and say his economic policies were sound. Dang – are you that entrenched in your Democratic Party?! Really?
Wisconsin’s 7.8% unemployment rate
Unemployment is but one economic indicator. Please check other economic indicators.
What I do not get about you people that are so loyal to your party is this, you will blame the other side, then when your side is in power you do not take any responsibility for the outcome.

Where were you during the Bush years?!
“The recession is nation wide.
Yes – thanks to Pelosi, Reid and Obama. ”
Dude, where the hell were you during 8 years of Bush waging economic war on the bottom 98% of this country???
where the hell were you during 8 years of Bush waging economic war on the bottom 98% of this country???
Like any good liberal, I was protesting with my Bushitler signs and my effigy of Busy with a noose around his neck. Where were you?
“I am not sure, but … I don’t think you get the joke. I think it is hilarious. See, the Walker campaign was pointing out …. ah nevermind. He’s a Republican, you would not laugh even if you DID think it was funny.”
Yeah Boy: that’s a good retort to give for times when you have no explanation.
Yeah Boy: that’s a good retort to give for times when you have no explanation.
Oh, I’ve got a retort, my man. The problem is, explaining how the Walker campaign is making fun of Barrett’s aides for bragging about his 67(!) pages by merely increasing the font (to make 68(!!) pages) shows people that the print is useless, (no matter how many pages) without substance, is useless because Dan will never give credit to the Republicans.
Happy, JoeW?
I give him about as much credit as a teacher would give a student who turned in a 3 page report on a complicated assignment.
His “plan” isn’t a plan no matter how big or small the font size is. “Lower taxes” and “Invest in infrastrucutre” aren’t plans. They’re campaign talking points.
While the kids over at the Walker campaign might think it’s cute to outdo Barrett’s plan, he actually does have a plan.
Just like the kids who writes a detailed 15 page report for their final has a better idea of the subject matter than the kid who writes the 3 page report.
I’m glad you and the kids over there got a kick out of this (OH WE GOT HIM!#@! HA HA!). It’s too bad they or anyone else in his campaign doesn’t find it important enough to actually write a real plan about.
It tells you a lot about potential governing styles.
So Walker’s economic plan has 1,018 words whereas Barrett’s has 23,678. We can conclude then, that Barrett’s plan is 23 times better than Walker’s.
Or maybe it’s taking Barrett 23,678 words to disassociate himself from Doyle’s fiscal shenanigans.
Just like the kids who writes a detailed 15 page report for their final has a better idea of the subject matter than the kid who writes the 3 page report.
Repeat this to yourself and let me know how ridiculous it sounds.
I know a programmer that takes 500 lines of code vs one that takes 50 to accomplish the same thing. Obviously the programmer that needs 500 lines is a better programmer. Right?
How to Draw an Owl, by Scott Walker.
Grant – you have too many one sentence responses. Obviously, you have not thought through your answers.
Next time, provide some substance to your comments and have them be 67 lines, please.
(argument aside, that is a funny .jpg! )
Maybe he can just post his one line comments in a huge font.

LOL!
Brevity is the soul of twit.
@Grant – The actual quote is: “Brevity is the soul of wit“, for those of you who do not get Grant’s humor.
Everybody gets it. You should stop talking now, the farther you read down the page, the dumber you sound.
My apologies, Heavy for commenting after you instructed me to not do so.
Everybody gets it.
Actually, some people do not know the true quote, so I corrected it. No need to call names.
You should stop talking now
Just for you Heavy …
Apparently there will be a lot of jobs created rewriting every regulation Wisconsin has in place to make every application easy to obtain. We will have jobs but they won’t be in recreation or tourism because Wisconsin will be a polluted and over-developed suburb of Chicago.
