The Old “Dog Ate My Email” Trick Isn’t Going to Work For Bush

Glad to see someone calling the White House on thier claim that a bunch of email accounts that White House staff used so they could work on politcs while on the clock have been “mishandled”.

President Bush’s aides are lying about White House e-mails sent on a Republican account that might have been lost, a powerful Senate chairman said Thursday, vowing to subpoena those documents if the administration fails to cough them up.

“They say they have not been preserved. I don’t believe that!” Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy shouted from the Senate floor.

“You can’t erase e-mails, not today. They’ve gone through too many servers,” said Leahy, D-Vt. “Those e-mails are there, they just don’t want to produce them. We’ll subpoena them if necessary.”

Like I read somewhere else… I’m sure that the folks in the intelligence community would love to help on this issue. They’ve got tons of experience recovering “lost” email apparently.

One other thing: Where’s the outrage over government abuse and misconduct? Usually some of our conservative pals love nothing better than pointing out how their TAX DOLLARS are being wasted by government, and I can’t think of any better example than this.
