Cut jobs. Raise bus fares. Privatize anywhere and everywhere you can.
If the County Executive’s budget proposal released today sounds familiar, that’s because it is.
No new ideas, no real plans, just pure ideology.
It’s time the residents of this County face the facts. Scott Walker doesn’t care about the future of Milwaukee County or the well being of those who live here. Plain and simple. This budget, and everything he’s said and done in recent history is done solely to advance his political career and his eventual campaign for Governor.
Seriously, raising bus fares to $2.25 for a one way trip? That’s classic Walker!
Walker wants his aides get a 25% pay raise while the men and women who rely on bus service to get to work and school are socked with a 15% increase. Fewer good paying jobs, more handouts for private companies.
No real plans and no new ideas once again from Scott Walker.
I live in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Milwaukee, WI with my wife Jen, our daughter Emerson, and sons Carter and Colton.

Explain in detail what your budget proposal would contain. Estimate the tax increase necessary to pay for it.
Remember, the state cap gives you $12 million, tops, to play with.
If Walker had spent the last seven years building cooperation between Milwaukee County and the Villages and Cities within, then we could all be saving money by consolidating IT services, Fire, Police, EMS, and Public Works. A cooperative approach can reduce costs and improve services. Walker has proven that he is not the man to build cooperation.
That’s a pretty lengthy response for the comment section on we weblog GC. However, I wouldn’t raise bus fares, would support a sales tax to decrease property taxes, and wouldn’t spend half a million dollars to study the privatization of the airport.
One thing I would do: freeze wages on my own staff so that instead of giving out hundreds of thousands in raises to my aides, I could redirect that money to property tax relief, infrastructure, and creating jobs in Milwaukee County.
