So in the other 46 states that allow people to carry a concealed weapon, they don't have to deal with rape and robbery crimes anymore?

You people are ignorant. You think that everyone is just going to go around carring guns and shooting everything like the wild west. Thats not the case. Not passing a concealed carry law only limits law abiding citizens. The criminals are still going to get guns on the black market and now they wont fear anyone that they rob or rape because they know that no one has a weapon on them. Wisconsin is only one out of four states that dont have a concealed carry law and you dont hear about increased violence and people shooting everyone else in the other 46 states that have a law. The only reason it didn't pass was because Doyle is an idiot and threatened to take away state funding from the assembly members that voted to override his veto. They had to vote in his favor in order to keep their funding. Doyle is a criminal and I sure wont vote for him in the next election. So before you liberals start going off on republicans about not caring about others, you should do some research and trust the law abiding citizens of Wisconsin.

I agree that the permit process would stop a lot of people from actually getting a permit. But I fear that your average Joe would have heard just the headline on the 10:00 news - "Concealed carry law passes - Wisconsin citizens can now ..." - and assumed that it was OK to pack their Gloc the next morning.

The concealed carry law isn't going to make a big impact either way on its own. Not many people are going to jump through the hoops needed to get a permit. Maybe it could pave the way for other legislation allowing people to do crazy things with guns in public, but most likely not.
