Your Elected Officials Hard At Work

Published by Daniel Cody at 11:01 pm under Politics

Here yee here yee, House Resolution 153:

“Recognizing the public need for fasting and prayer in order to secure the blessings and protection of Providence for the people of the United States and our Armed Forces during the conflict in Iraq and under the threat of terrorism at home…

Whereas, through prayer, fasting, and self-reflection, we may better recognize our own faults and shortcomings and submit to the wisdom and love of God in order that we may have guidance and strength in those daily actions and decisions we must take”

Are things going that bad in Iraq that we need to petition the Lord for prayer?

“…calling on all people of the United States - to seek guidance from God to achieve a greater understanding of our own failings and to learn how we can do better in our everyday activities”

Dear Lord,

Please send unto us the heavenly host to strike down the North Korean missiles that Mr. Rumsfeld’s missile shield cannot and protect us from the potential chemical weapons you tell our leader the enemy has while totally not listening to any god the other 65% of our human breathern may pray to.

Color me a fucking Puritan looking for the New World.

This is starting to sound too much like my Western Apocalypticism class last semester.

Seriously, what the hell is this? Did someone finally drop the last remaining copy of the US Constitution down the shitter?

Aren’t the courts still upholding the decision that "under God" in the Pledge is unconstitutional when said in public schools? If so, then how the hell is this getting by?

“[A] general moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air; consequently, all character training and religion must be derived from faith. From our point of view as representatives of the state, we need believing people. A dark cloud threatens from Poland. We have need of soldiers, believing solders. Believing solders are the most valuable ones. They give their all.”
